Life isn’t fair!

Life isn’t fair!

“Life isn’t fair”

My dad always says that. And when I was little I would stomp and say STOP SAYING THAT ITS NOT FAIR! And whine and whine. When will this statement stop pissing me off I thought?!

Take responsibility for your life.

What does that mean to me?

If something really shitty happens to you, the way you react to it is your responsibility even if it wasn’t your fault. YOU get to choose how you perceive it, YOU get to choose what you will do to deal with it.

Take this scenario..

  1. A guy gets cheated on and goes through an awful breakup. He becomes an alcoholic and hates his life. He feels not enough, desperate for validation, heartless, and victimizes himself.
  2. A guy gets cheated on and goes through an awful breakup. He uses the gym to help with his anger, he dives deeper into himself, heals his wounds, and teaches himself his worth now. He will never settle again, he won’t take disrespect from people, he doesn’t use others for validation and he won’t let anyone make him believe he is not enough for them.

See the difference?

You can get dealt really shitty cards in life, and yes it sucks that not everyone has to go through the shit you go through, and that some people have been dealt better cards. But it is your responsibility on what you do about it.

By taking responsibility for your life you start to complain less, do more, and stop making excuses for yourself. You can be wronged by someone and cry everyday saying “it's not fair.” Life will never be fair. But you can find peace, find your own closure and do good for yourself. You may be battling the toughest battles. But victimizing and feeling sorry for yourself doesn’t get you anywhere.. I've learned. And making excuses for yourself doesn’t do shit either.

If this is you, you feel personally attacked by this blog post.. it means something. And don’t be mad at yourself for always giving yourself a pity party or victimizing yourself. If you are realizing this is what you do. Accept you do it, and if you want to change that, change it. You can do it, anyone can do it. No more pity parties because life isn’t ….

FAIR

P.S. Even though this sounds aggressive, I am still working on this too.. You are not alone :)
