Am I healing?

Am I healing?

How do I know I am healing? What is it supposed to feel like?

Whether it’s heartbreak, childhood trauma or learning how to love yourself, healing can look very similar.

Healing is crying yourself to sleep

Healing is leaving a public place to go sob alone

Healing is tasting the tears that drip down your face

Healing is having arguments in your head

Healing is seeing that person who hurt you and still hurting

Healing is not texting them

Healing is realizing you’re zoning out

Healing is recognizing your bad coping mechanisms

Healing is noticing the negative thoughts that go through your head

Healing is not always being able to fight the negative thoughts off

Healing is avoiding feeding into your old habits

Healing is feeling like you have no appetite

Healing is eating even when you really don’t want to

Healing is fighting off those negative thoughts

Healing is creating new habits

Healing is removing yourself from a room that is causing you hurt

Healing is going on walks

Healing is realizing you deserve more

Healing is going to the gym

Healing is dancing

Healing is finding new hobbies

Healing is signing up for therapy

Healing is meditating

Healing is taking baby steps

Healing is taking yourself on dates

Healing is loving yourself

Healing is dating yourself instead

Healing is spending time alone

Healing is seeing that person who hurt you and it not always hurting as bad

Healing is looking in the mirror and realizing your worth

Healing is writing down your thoughts

Healing is taking responsibility for how you feel

Healing involves really good days

Healing involves really bad days

Healing involves self awareness

Healing involves trapping yourself in your room

Healing involves ignoring people

Healing involves anxiety

Healing involves not going on your phone

Healing involves going around the block to avoid that persons house

Healing involves limiting distractions

Healing involves talking to people

Healing involves telling those people about what you’re going through

Healing feels like your dying

Healing feels like your heart is breaking apart

Healing feels like anxiety is consuming your body

Healing feels like regret

Healing feels like grief

Healing feels like anger

Healing feels like sadness

Healing feels shaky

Healing feels like you’re backtracking

Healing feels like you’re alone

Healing feels like you’re not enough

Healing feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel

Healing feels like you’re not healing at all

During the healing process you won’t always feel like you are healing.

But you are. Because healing is simply feeling.

Feeling anything at all.

best. poem. ever.
you described healing in every which way. healing is a genuine feeling that could be bad or good. the most important part is that we feel all these things so we can keep moving forward everyday<3
